Ed Schultz: “So she can read a teleprompter. Big deal.”
Thursday, September 04, 2008SARAH PALINEd Schultz: So she can read a teleprompter. Big deal. Last night, I couldn’t sleep, and watched the rerun of the speech in my hotel room. I was relieved – Palin’s speech was very bit as good on television as it was in the hall. And to give a smidgen of credit where it is rarely due, Keith Olbermann’s first words were actually, “She clearly gives a great speech.” Matthews first noted that he thought Palin was designed to bring in Hillary voters, but she’s nothing like Hillary, and never thought of the New York senator… “I think people will like her.” Olbermann did mention Tracy Flick, Reese Witherspoon’s character from Election… David Gregory said very strong, very well received. But later in the evening on Larry King, the snide brigade came out. Ed Schultz, who called Palin a bimbo, said, “So she can read a teleprompter. Big deal.” Jamal Simmons began by...

Joy Behar Suggests Republicans Hold a Racist Double Standard
George W. DANGER WILL ROBINSON! Republicans really hold racist double standards when it involves teenage pregnancies and marriages. Behar exclaimed it’s "the end of his life" because "he’s married at 17" (Johnston is actually 18, which is the legal difference between a child and an adult) When Elisabeth Hasselbeck asked "why isn’t that the beginning of another [life]?" Joy Behar, implying Republicans are racist, rebutted "if this was a black teenage couple, you wouldn’t be saying it so easily. Not you, but the Republican party would be all over that." Behar subsequently added "they’re white, they’re Christian. Later in the broadcast Joy Behar read a letter to the editor making a bizarre apples and oranges comparison. Also of note, Whoopi Goldberg praised Sarah Palin for sticking with her daughter and not disowning her as some parents have done. Whoopi also recounted wishing at the time her then pregnant teenage daughter would have an abortion, but did not. God bless t...

From the South Florida Sun-Sentinel
GAINESVILLE, FLA. - Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow was good early and even better late, enough to help No. Florida struggled against Miami's defense most of the night. Florida, whose two scores in the first half came off Miami miscues on special teams, led 9-3 to start the fourth quarter. But Tebow, Harvin & Co. The Gators took advantage of two favorable calls to score the first of the two late touchdowns. Three plays later, on another third down, Miami's Randy Phillips was flagged for pass interference against Harvin. It gave the Gators a first-and-goal at the 2. Florida's next drive was the most impressive of the night, a five-play, 95-yarder that sealed the victory. They used to play every year, but the Gators dropped Miami in 1988 because they wanted to play a ``more national schedule.'' They promptly replaced the Hurricanes with Montana State. Former Florida coach Steve Spurrier wanted to add Miami back to the schedule in 1990, hoping to bolster recruiting efforts in talen...
